October Newsletter
Welcome
Welcome to the Wade Skinner Music monthly newsletter! Since this is the first of these newsletters, I thought I would start by saying that the plan is to produce one newsletter each month to keep our friends in the know about all things related to Wade Skinner Music. Each newsletter will come out on the first of each month and will cover the events and happenings of the previous month.
What’s New?
Please help me welcome Mike McCary to the Wade Skinner Music Team. Despite his mild obsession for the KC Chiefs (yes, he has a “room” at his house devoted to them), Mike’s redemptive qualities include a love for Led Zeppelin and Megadeth, a Texan accent, cute kids, and a patient wife. In all seriousness, Mike comes to us with an impressive resume in the country music world. In particular, Mike has worked with one of my country music heroes Mark Chesnutt for well over a decade and more recently Jamie Richards and George Dearborne, as well as others. Mike will be doing all the “internet-y” and computer stuff like social media posts, website design and maintenance and tour schedule updates. In addition to all of those details, Mike will be helping out with booking. If that wasn’t enough, I’m considering inviting Mike over to mow my lawn and feed my chickens, as well. (“Hey Mike, maybe I’ll start paying you in eggs, man!”)
Mike has done an amazing job with our new website, so go check that out at www.wadeskinner.com and let us know what y’all think. He has been working night and day (even while he and his family were sick with the ‘rona) to get the website finished. We are very proud of the finished product. We even took new promotion pictures in Mike’s hometown and out at my brother’s ranch to include on the website. You will be seeing us roll those out on social media, as well.
So, if you are not following me on social media, please do so. We even have a new Tik Tok page! Click Here To Follow my social pages! Mike and I are hard at work every day to bring our friends on social media meaningful content that keeps you informed about what we are up to on a regular basis and that also brings a smile to your face. I promise not to over-post on social media or to bombard you with trivial nonsense, but if you do see a post, please help us by commenting and liking the post. It informs the algorithm that we are providing good content, and it helps you to see it more frequently. If you are at one of our shows and take pictures, please tag Wade Skinner Music on social media so that we see those pictures.
Mike and I have also been hard at work on developing a new merch line, and I am so happy about the new T-shirt, hat, and koozie designs that we have coming out in just a few short weeks. If you would like to pre-order one of those new designs, just click the link here to our new online store and enter the code NEWSLETTER to get 10% off your first order. You are going to love it!
In addition to Mike, please help me welcome Tabitha Dailey to the Wade Skinner Music Team. Tabitha will be assisting Mike with booking duties. Although she is from Nashville and has the unfortunate destiny of sharing a home with a guitar player (the humanity!), Tabitha’s redemptive qualities include a love for real country music, a soft Tennessee lilt, and an enduring patience for putting up with insane musicians. (Yes, we are all crazy.) I think she is going to add a feminine southern charm that will keep us hard-edged boys in line! Welcome, Tabitha!
Tour
I counted the dates on the tour schedule for 2021 today, and we have over 120 shows that we will have played by the end of December 2021. In October alone, we played thirteen shows. Wow. (My back is hurting just thinking about lifting those speakers and all my gear in and out of my car for all those shows!) We have much to be thankful for as we head into Turkey day this year.
One of the highlights for this month’s shows include our Hannah House Ministries benefit concert opener for Darryl Worley and his band at Bear Creek Smokehouse. What a beautiful night! Amazing barbecue, wonderful audience, great show, and all for such a meaningful cause.
Another highlight on the October tour schedule was our Headliner show in the fall concert series “Roots in the Gardens” at the Longview Arboretum and Nature Center.
Be sure to follow me on Bandsintown (Click Here), so you don’t miss a show when we come to your town. We have eleven shows on the books right now for November!
If you would like for us to play a particular venue in 2022, please let us know. We are currently working on the tour for next year.
Radio
After 21 straight weeks on the Texas Regional Radio Report (TRRR), we made the decision to pull off of our promotion of “Uncle Sledge.” I am so proud of the hard work that Greg Austin radio promotions put into promoting that single to Texas radio. The song peaked at #42 for two straight weeks in a row. It was our first top 50 hit! We owe a big thanks for that song’s success to Texas radio and to all the folks who listened.
We will be releasing a new single to Texas radio in January 2022 from our brand new album Flood. So, get ready for new music! We are coming at you with a second full album of ten original songs, all written by yours truly.
Music
Cris Marshall at Tonal Recording is putting the finishing touches on our new album due out in 2022. I am so proud of the amazing work that the musicians (Chase Barrett, Nina Gonzalez, Ronnie Godfrey, and Dennis Bailey) put into getting all of the instrumentation done for this project: drums, bass, guitars, piano, mandolin, and pedal steel guitar. Although we have thoroughly enjoyed the process of putting this album together, we cannot wait for you to hear the finished product. I am so thankful to be working again with all the same folks that produced the Through the Fire album. The musical chemistry when we all work together is nothing short of spiritual. I am confident that album #2 is just as good (if not better) than my first album. And I think you are going to love it! We will be posting updates soon to social media as we near the finish line.
Thank you all so much for spinning my first album Through the Fire on your favorite streaming platform. If you are not following me on Spotify, iTunes, or Apple music, please do so here (insert link to tree). We have over 20k spins on Spotify alone for that album! Thank y’all so much! It makes all of the hard work worth it when we see folks from 34 different countries around the world listening to and enjoying the music that we spend so much time and effort producing! Wow!
I’ll see y’all down the road!
Cheers!
